ANGELICA TULIMIERO
STATEMENT
I'm deeply interested in the environment and everything in nature is source
of inspiration for my works.
The layers of soil and rocks, the branches of a tree, the way water flows, the
design of shells, the vein of a stone.
I'm trying to create patterns to decorate my ceramics, texturing the surfices
and exploring contrasts like matt and shiny or rough and smooth. I chose
to use stoneware clays because I feel they give a sense of solidity and
durability.
My works are all hand built, most are coiled, but I also use slabs and moulds.
The most challenging part of the work for me is the glazing and the firing
process.
I'm making up my own glaze recepies.Testing all the new coulors and developing
them it's an extremly fullfilling and endless experience.I'm also trying
out an electric and a gas kiln, exploring the differences between oxidation
and reduction firings.
All my works are first bisqued fired and then fired at 1260°c.
